Now also in Great Britain.

DB Cargo UK launches Freight belongs on rail campaign.

The UK version of the "Freight belongs on rail" campaign was recently launched at the official opening of a new freight station in Cricklewood, North London. To lend weight to the demand "Freight belongs on rail", DB Cargo UK, the largest rail freight operator in England, has joined forces with some of the UK's most prominent companies. Together they want to persuade the British government to define legal targets for the shift of freight transport to rail.

The setting of legally binding targets should create the necessary conditions to encourage more sustainable investment in rail freight. However, further joint efforts by all stakeholders are needed. Only with combined forces can the political measures and reforms be implemented that are necessary to unleash the full potential of rail freight.

"Freight transport belongs on the railways. The more goods and materials we shift from road to rail, the less congestion there will be, the lower the CO2-emissions and the better the air quality," said Andrea Rossi, CEO of DB Cargo UK.
