DB Cargo: Sustainable Engagement at Lollapalooza Festival

From the 9th to the 10th of September, DB Cargo continued its #güterfeiern Festival Tour, making a stop at the Lollapalooza Festival in Berlin. There, visitors were treated to a top-tier musical spectacle. But the excitement wasn't limited to the stages – the DB Cargo container provided entertainment and music, as seen in the official DB Cargo Lollapalooza Aftermovie:

Environmentally-friendly beer transportation thanks to DB Cargo

Ahead of the festival, DB Cargo delivered big time: Over 500 bathtubs worth of beer were transported in an eco-friendly manner by train from the Warsteiner Brewery to Großbeeren near Berlin. From there, the transfer and further transport by road to a beverage retailer in Potsdam took place. It was stored and cooled until the beginning of the festival at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. But DB Cargo's efforts didn't stop here – the empty containers were loaded with returnable bottles and transported back directly to the Warsteiner Brewery via Großbeeren on the railway. Thanks to this green logistics solution, 80 to 100 percent of CO2 emissions are saved compared to road transport.

Music in the DB Cargo Container

At the green DB Cargo "Freight belongs on the Railway" container, festival-visitors had the opportunity to not only experience great live music, but also engage in relaxed conversations with the recruiting team of Deutsche Bahn. Here, information about diverse jobs in rail freight transportation was available. On Saturday, the Warsteiner Band Contest winners, Friends Don't Lie  (listen on Spotify ), performed, while on Sunday, the band Treptow (listen on Spotify) provided musical entertainment.

With this sustainable initiative, DB Cargo once again underscores its commitment to environmentally-friendly freight transportation and sends a strong message for the protection of our climate. Freight belongs on the railway – even at festivals and concerts.
